Throughout the year, certain Sunday worship services have particular meanings and formats. These special Sundays have become cherished traditions here on Fern Street.
Homecoming Sunday Celebration and Water Communion
Our church year begins with Homecoming Sunday. Meet and greet old and new friends and get the year off to an exciting start! Enjoy the sounds of The Universalist Church Choir at either of the two Sunday services. It is also time for the children to join or rejoin their Church School classes. Remember to bring a small sample of water from your summer travels for a uniquely Unitarian Universalist ritual. Join us afterward for a special Fellowship Hour.
High Holy Days
The High Holy Days of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are marked on one Sunday at both 9 and 11o’clock services and we welcome Michael Thompson, who sounds the shofar for us.
World Wide Communion Sunday
A global interfaith event marking our universal commitment to world peace.
Winter Holiday Services
We honor our Judeo-Christian foundations with winter holiday services for Hanukkah and Christmas. Join us on Christmas Eve for carols and candlelight as we welcome the spirit of Christmas.
4:30 PM Christmas Pageant with Children's and Youth Choirs
7:00 PM Soloists and Instrumental music
9:00 PM Universalist Church Choir
Universalist Passover Seder
Hear from our schoolchildren the story of the Exodus of the Jewish people from their bondage by the Pharaoh in Egypt. All are welcome to share the ritual meal with the fourth graders, their teachers, and their families. Please sign up ahead of time.
Spring Celebrations
As we are renewed with the coming of Spring and the new life it brings, we are inspired by our youth as they lead us in worship on Youth Sunday, a very special Sunday in March. Also, our fourth grade church school classes lead a Universalist Passover Seder as part of their study of Judaism.
Maundy Thursday
During this Service of Communion, names of those we have lost, shether recently or long ago, will be read. Please join us after the service for a reception.
Easter Sunday
Powerful themes of renewal of faith and resurrection of love lend weight and gladness to our Easter worship traditions.
Celebration Sunday
Come and celebrate the church year. New members will be recognized and honored by the congregation, as will seniors graduating from high school. The Universalist Church Choir and Hall High School's Choraliers will both perform. Join us afterwards for a special Fellowship Hour.
Music Sundays
Twice a year, our choirs offer Sunday morning concerts in lieu of a traditional worship service. A spiritual feast for the ears and eyes.
Children's and Youth Sundays
We devote two special worship services every year to recognizing the remarkable spiritual developments in our children and youth, and to the adults who have accompanied them along the way.
Summer Services
Child care is available every Sunday for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. One Room Church School is available most Sundays throughout the summer for children entering kindergarten and older.
