Membership
Membership is an important step in your spiritual journey. It is a commitment to be a part of a community of caring where you will both receive and give care. If you are searching for a caring church community, please allow us to welcome you in person on a Sunday morning. If you are on a spiritual journey, if you seek to make a positive impact on the world around you, or if you wish to find larger meaning in your life, we believe there is a place for you here.
Join us in our light-filled sanctuary on Sunday morning for our worship service. Become a part of meaningful activities such as book groups, small group ministries, social justice projects, and spiritual retreats. We offer many paths to participation.
To become a member you need to:
- Sign our Membership Book in the presence of one of our ministers;
- Participate in the life of our church by attending services and getting involved in Church activities;
- Make a financial commitment to our church.
To find out more about us, you might visit the church, take a tour on Sunday morning from one of our Welcoming Hosts, sign up for our newsletter, pick up denominational literature, come to our Minister Q&A sessions, or our New UU classes. Our Member Services Coordinator, Martha Winslow, is ready to assist you.
Minister's Q&A Sessions
What’s involved in joining the Universalist Church of West Hartford? What does it mean to be a member of our faith community? These sessions are held periodically throughout the year on Sundays at 10:15 AM and 12:15 PM. Join one of our ministers for a brief session to ask any questions that are on your mind. Oct. 2, Nov. 13, Dec. 4, Jan. 22, Feb. 12, Mar. 25, May 6.
New UU Classes

We will offer this three-session program twice this year to orient you to our faith and our church. We will spend time learning about the roots of our UU faith, and hear from church members about the many ways of becoming involved here on Fern Street. We will share our own spiritual journeys and spend some time getting to know one another. Lunch will be provided and childcare is available upon request. This class is strongly recommended for new members who have not previously attended and is also appropriate for anyone thinking of becoming a member.
New Member Dinner

We hold this event to celebrate the people who have joined our church in the past year by signing the Membership Book and undertaking the commitment of becoming a member. This festive evening includes lots of good food and good conversation. A great way to get know other new members and to socialize with the church members putting on the dinner. April 27 6 PM
